Email

Acenet Internet Services provides two varieties of email accounts for web hosting accounts: Gateway and Domain mail.

Email Types Guides
  1. Gateway mail Vs. Domain mail

  2. Gateway mail setup

  3. Domain mail setup

  4. Trouble shooting

Gateway mail

Understanding how gateway mail accounts work can help you diagnosis mail problems. Gateway mail is setup in such a way that ALL emails for your domain are placed into the one account.

If you have a domain parking or discovery package then you will have gateway mail access. If you are unsure what type of email account you have please contact webadmin@acenet.net.au for more details.

Emails are aliased to a single acenet email address.

*@yourdomain.com -> yourdomainmail@acenet.net.au

No special setup is required from your end to allow you to use different email addresses on a gateway mail account. Simply send an email message with your choice of email address @yourdomain. That’s it, nothing more.

Since you have a gateway account you set your email address to anything you like including

  • webmaster@yourdomain.com,

  • admin@yourdomain.com,

  • postmaster@yourdomain.com,

  • i_can_not_believe_that_this_a_valid_email_address@yourdomain.com,

  • etc.

Please remember that to access the email account you will need to login with the username provided by acenet.

POP3 access

To recieve your email you will need a valid pop3 server address, a username and a password. These details are provided with your welcome letter when you sign-up for a web hosting account with Acenet. Account use the following format:

Gateway mail

POP3 Server:

mail.example.com

SMTP Server:

<your ISP's outgoing (SMTP) mail server>

Email Address:

Anything you like eg. admin@yourdomain.com

Username:

yourdomainmail

Password:

<as provided on your application form>

Please subsitute example.com with your domain name and associated extension. For example, the domain acenetglobal.info uses mail.acenetglobal.info

Domain Mail

Alternatively we can setup your account with individual mail boxes. It would then be possible to have a separate account just for webmaster@docq.com.au, but you would only be able to resend and receive message for webmaster@docq.com.au. Your username for a domain account is your full email name.
