FrontPage

They are a set of programs on a Web server that let you administer, author, and browse a FrontPage-based Web — a structure containing all of the pages, images, subdirectories, and other files that make up a Web site. FrontPage Server Extensions also let you do collaborative authoring, hit counters, e-mail form-handling, and editing a Web site directly on a server computer.

Front page server extensions are enabled by contacting the acenet support staff. Please contact webadmin@acenetglobal.com to request your server extensions enabled. Front page server extensions are available on upon.

You will be unable to publish your website via http:// till the front page server extensions are enabled.

Community hosting accounts are accessible by FTP only.

Once the FrontPage extensions are enabled

Open up your front page web. Select the File menu then Publish. Follow the prompts and enter in the relevant information. Please note that to publish your site please enter in your entire websites address, for example the site acenetglobal.com would publish their updates to http://www.acenetglobal.com. Note the 'htttp://' and the 'www.' at the begining of the address. This will tell the webserver that you are publishing a FrontPage website. Acenet will provide you with access details once your web site has been FrontPage enabled.

If the http:// site is unreachable FrontPage will default to using FTP to publish the site. If your FrontPage does this please note that FrontPage specific web forms may not work.

Updating your existing website

If you do not have an existing copy of your website you will need FrontPage to import the website. To do this select the File menu and then Import, follow the prompts for more details. Please note that FrontPage may not extract all of the files from your website which is why we strongly recommend using FTP in preference to FrontPage. FTP will allow you to gain access to a sinlge file for updating rather than having to import an entire site.

FrontPage is not compatible with FTP

If you publish your website with FrontPage please try to avoid updating doing quick updates with FTP. FTP has a tendendancy to overwrite critical files on the server that destroy your front-page extensions. We can't protect you from this as the files exposed are required for Front-Page to complete it update.
